At this time, the heating system of the entire 77,000 m² of storage space was still connected to the local district heating. At one stage of the construction project, it was decided to operate an own heating centre directly on site on the Porsche premises. The equipment of the exhaust system of the heating centre was undertaken by the Schiedel KAMIN-SOS partner KTS Stranger from Eben im Pongau together with the steel construction company ASEN from Seekirchen.
The planned heating capacity of 2 x 2.5 MW (megawatts) is achieved with two state-of-the-art gas boilers, which even cool the 400 degree hot exhaust gases to 40 degrees via a heat exchanger, and only those reach the outside via the two installed Schiedel ICS systems with a diameter of 500.
The heating capacity corresponds to the demand of around 700 modern single-family houses, and due to cost savings with gas compared to the previous district heating solution it will be possible to reach a positive result after a few years already.
The two generously dimensioned Schiedel ICS exhaust pipes with a height of 12 m are executed with a steel construction to provide optimal accessibility for the chimney sweep. With a possible requirement by the building authority, this height can be increased to 19 m without any problem.
